Human Growth Hormone

The Truth About Human Growth Hormone

Ah, adolescence. The wellspring of awkwardness. We all had to go through it, and most can say that they are glad to have left it behind in the high school yearbooks.

What is it that lies at the root of the braces, insecurities, breakouts, and breakups, though?

The answer is simple: human growth hormone.

This may seem irrelevant, but understanding how the human growth hormone (HGH) works will help you to understand better how the HGH supplement you take will help you build muscle and lose fat.

HGH: Where Does it Come From?

HGH is a hormone that is produced naturally in the pituitary gland from birth until death. It is responsible for all of the different changes in the body that turn a newborn infant into a beard-growing businessman and that same beard-growing businessman into a sage grandfather.

Specifically, it affects bone density, height, coordination, muscle mass, sex drive and sexual organ development, and many other functions of the body throughout life.

How it Affects Your Body during Puberty

During adolescence, HGH production increases as the body prepares for the changes that transform a child to an adult.

Around the age of 10, males begin experiencing the very first changes of puberty, which is initiated by increased production of HGH, which spikes to 700 micrograms per day.

You are most likely familiar with these changes: lowered voice, growth of body hair, increased size of sexual organs, increased height, and even acne all are all of the changes that take place during puberty.

After adolescence, however, HGH levels drop off quickly. The average 20-year-old body produces about 400 micrograms per day. 20 years later, it only produces 200 micrograms per day. 40 years after that, the average 80-year-old body produces only 25 micrograms per day.

The reason that our hair turns grey and our skin wrinkles as we get older is due, in large part, to the decreased production of HGH in the pituitary gland.

How it Affects Your Body when Taken to Build Muscle

If you are having flashbacks to your early years in high school and thinking about throwing out your stock of HGH supplements, don’t act too quickly.

Studies have shown that an increased production of HGH after adolescence is beneficial to the body.

After this awkward phase of time, HGH is commonly referred to as "the fountain of youth". This is because it is responsible for preserving the vitality of many different functions of the body, including:
• Conversion of fat to muscle
• Growth of tissue
• Increased energy levels
• Repair of damaged tissue
• Strengthened bones
• Improved brain function
• Improved sexual function
• Fortified health of hair, finger and toenails, and skin

If you are taking an HGH supplement, it does not mean that you are actually taking more HGH into your body. Instead, you are taking a supplement that provides your body with the right tools to stimulate the pituitary gland to produce more HGH than it normally would.

Pure HGH is not actually available to consumers without a prescription from a doctor. Usually, these are not given out to those who are looking to increase their muscle mass, however. This is why HGH supplements are so beneficial to the muscle building industry. They encourage a more natural production of HGH.

When used, HGH supplements increase the levels of HGH in the body, which helps to convert unwanted body fat into muscle quite rapidly.

I’m Not Gonna Break Out, Am I?

Fortunately, the answer to this question is most likely no. There are a few common side-effects of taking HGH supplements.
